Last week, I got to tick off another thing from my Best Summer Ever bucket list, with a little help from Malibu.
I've lived in Bristol for nearly 4 years altogether (with a few years of Devon in between) and yet, I've never visited the Lido. A historic outdoor pool with lots to offer..
I popped up there a week ago today, and on arrival a lovely lady handed me a robe & some flip flops, and gave me a quick tour. I got changed into my huge, snuggly robe & sat in the treatment waiting room, overlooking the pool and drinking water with slices of oranges and lemons in.
It was relaxing just watching the fun below, and took my mind off the fact that I was a bit anxious about having a massage - my first one ever! Another lovely lady greeted me though, took me to the treatment room and explained what she was going to do, and asked if there were any parts of my body that I wanted her to concentrate on.
The massage... oh my goodness, the massage. There were points where it didn't feel like it was a human being touching me anymore.
Afterwards, I felt totally intoxicated and sleepy. I was taken downstairs to the post-treatment room, which was full of comfy chairs, and offered a herbal tea and lots of water. It was lovely in there, but unfortunately I couldn't stay for long as I had a booking for lunch.
The restaurant staff were mostly friendly.. and the food was good, but maybe a bit fancy for me. There seemed to be a lot of seafood and fennel on offer. Even the falafel that I had, had fennel in. I couldn't eat much anyway after my hour-long massage, so after a few mouthfuls of delicious blackcurrant sorbet, I was done.
In hindsight, I should've got there earlier, so that I could've had a swim before my massage. By the time I was done with lunch, I had to head home to get ready for work!
Oh well, that just means I'll have to go again...

ReplyDeleteOoh I'm very jealous you went to Clifton Lido!
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased when it was all restored back to its former glory a few years back and I've put a trip there on my Christmas list every year for the last few years - so far though, the other half hasn't taken any notice! :-) xx
I've always wanted to go to the Lido - it's definitely on my Bristol bucket list :)
