a new look!

HEY GUYS! I mentioned on Twitter yesterday that I was working on a little blog revamp, and after a couple of days of work, I think it's just about there! If you're a silly sausage or a new reader, you might not be able to tell what's new. Let me help you out:

• BANNER - simpler & smaller, very me.

• SIDE BAR - that thing, over there on the left. a little photo of my face, and a bit about me; new links and buttons; new categories list & search bar to help you find what you're after.

• PAGES - those links up there, under the banner - I've updated all existing pages, plus a few new additions - disclaimer and blog roll (where you'll find links to all my favourite reads!)

Yeah ok, so that's it. It doesn't seem like much when I put it in those three bullet points, but I've tried my best to stick to make it cleaner and simpler. I'm hoping that this rejig will make me more enthusiastic to stay on top of things, and make it the best I can!

be bold with your swimwear this summer.

We’ve had some unusually beautiful summery weather over here in the UK lately, and although it’s a little damp right now, we can still get excited about the summer holidays, and the many essential fashion items of this season. Any excuse to go shopping, right? ;)

I love these shorts so. much. You might've guessed that because they were in my last outfit post too.. oopsie. This particular outfit definitely comes to under £15. I do love a cheap outfit that makes me feel all pretty and a little 1950s.

real life: heat and chronic illnesses.

Hey guys, isn't it lovely to be having a real summer? Well, yes and no.. Yes when you're sitting under a tree in a little breeze, dipping your toes in the river and eating an ice cream, or up to your neck in the salty sea. Not so much when you're stuck in a sweaty city and have to stay indoors to work, or whatever.

Oh yeah, and when you're hypothyroid and can't control your body temperature particularly well.

WEDNESDAY.

A huge ship, a hot car and a hot dog. Kestrel spotting and country lanes. Making up stories about an old man with no name and crime-fighting animals. Saying hello to other walkers. A boggy bit. Stopping for a picnic next to a huge house, and ridiculous-sounding sheep hiding in the bushes. Tiny feet. Making friends with the sheep. Getting lost in the undergrowth, stumbling and slipping down the rocky paths. Finding a little cove, cooling off our toes and exploring on the rocks. Zero creatures in the rockpools. Getting a damp bag and wading out to save Mark's shoe from the incoming tide. Seeing the same huge ship out at sea, looking at the big houses, and imagining being rich. Finding a hairy caterpillar! Trudging back through the soft fields, the boggy bits. Rope burn on the back of my knees. Getting stopped by cows on the way home.

I'm really enjoying sharing my Devon adventures with you this week, I hope you're not getting sick of them! Last time I was down I didn't have time to do much, and then I was lying down in a dark room trying to recover from Isle of Wight Festival, but this time I feel like I've really made the most of the beautiful surroundings!

MONDAY.

My dad called me and told me that his lovely lady, Judith, had suggested going up the river for a picnic. Obviously, I was totally up for that. We hopped into the dinghy next to a family of ducks, and pootled up the river, passing cute boat houses and other people enjoying a warm evening on the water.

A perfect, mostly-vintage outfit to wear while enjoying the River Dart! The red, white and blue made me feel very classic British, and I felt I looked the part sitting underneath the flag on the old ferry boat.

barcelona: my birthday!

Woops! I forgot about my Barcelona blog posts for a couple of weeks there.. I'm not done with them yet, ohhhh no.

goin' up the country.

SUNDAY.

Windows down through country lanes. My old second home, my Granny, the softest lawn (how does she do it?) Beautiful cottages with little stalls, munching on the juiciest strawberries in the backseat. Sunlight through ferns, sweet-smelling hedgerows. Sitting amongst the rocks, almost in the sea, absorbing the sun. Dipping my toes in, dipping my body and arms in, dipping my head in - so cold it hurt. Sandy toes, finding shells with creatures inside, a slow walk back to the car. A failed ice cream hunt. Home.

let's get some shoes.

Ok, so I know you love shoes. I can just tell. Am I right? But how much do you know about shoes? Did you know for example that 4% of couples break up after arguing about shoes?!

After having a look at this fun little infographic I learnt that my feet are distinctly below average (no surprise there) and that I would never ever be able to afford the most expensive shoes in the world. I'm also kind of comforted by the fact that so many other women have shoes they've never worn.. naughty us!

My housemates went shoe shopping the other day... super jealous. Here I am just dreaming about lovely shoes. If I had the money to spare, I would buy some of these beauties! 

I've never actually shopped at Littlewoods online, thinking they were a sort of mumsy, catalogue-type store. What I didn't realise is that they stock loads of different brands, including firm favourite Clarks range, through to Rocket Dog, Vans and Puma trainer designs.

I thought all of these colourful shoes would be perfect for the summer - wellies for festivals, jellies for the beach, trainers for just kickin' around in, and colourful wedges for all those cool parties I get invited to.. *cough*

I feel like I've been saying the phrase "this is one of my favourite summer dresses" a lot lately, but, well.. I have a LOT of favourite summer dresses. I feel more like myself when it's warm enough to slip on some sandals and a cute dress and not get chilly, and it was certainly like that over the weekend!
