the lula dress, by joules.

I've never bought, or even tried on anything from Joules. I often lust after their bedlinen, and I have a foxy iPad case, but I've always thought of the clothes as just a little too "grown up" for me.

I've been leaning towards slightly longer hemlines lately, and pinning items of clothing that reflect my age (nearly 26..) a bit more. I recently caught myself feeling like I need a handbag instead of a tote, and shoes a bit less scruffy than leather-look booties, Dr Martens and Vans.

When this beautiful floral dress from Joules turned up on my doorstep, I was very pleasantly surprised by the soft fabric, and the way it draped made me feel rather elegant. I do have to say that it creases very easily, and I was left with a few across the front of my thighs after sitting down!

I cinched it in slightly with a white belt to hint at the flowers, popped on some simple flatforms and gave myself a little beehive for a bit of much-needed height, slicked on my current favourite red lipstick, and I felt like SUCH a lady.

I don't feel like this is an everyday dress for me, but I'll definitely be wearing this to occasions that I want to be comfortable as well as dressy.

  20. Must admit I thought the same about Joules. It's a bit "rah" in my head too, lots of horsey Mums wear it near where I live. Saying that - this dress is beautiful and looks amazing on you sweet! You break those boundaries! ;) <3 Claire @ Jazzpad
