a very vintage day.

Yesterday, I met up with my best friend and we ended up going into a vintage shop that we'd browsed about a year ago, but it didn't have very much stock. Yesterday it had many many goodies. He got a lovely old camera for his girlfriend and I got this child's dress from the 1950s:

I tried it on today and unfortunately it's a few inches too small around the chest area. God damn! Sometimes I really wish I was still a child! I'm going to keep it anway, just in case I get skinny, or to hopefully pass on to a future daughter/niece.
Here is a bit of collar detail:

Also, I mentioned Alfred yesterday. Here he is in all his glory:

Isn't he lovely? I saw him and instantly fell in love. The lady who owned the shop said I could have both the dress and dog for £25, which is a very good deal I think, considering how overpriced a lot of vintage shops are these days. She said she was glad he was going to a loving home. And boy, do I love him. I especially like the way his ear flops over the top of his head:

Silly Alfred.

I also fell in love with a bike at the recycling centre, but I had no money to buy it. I'm desperately trying to find someone to take me back there today. I need it in my life. It's a lovely Raleigh Caprice bicycle (I think) in a kind of mauve colour with a white seat and handles. I think it needs new wheels and a bit of love, but I really think it could be brilliant. I wish I'd asked how much it was......

Wish me luck!
