1 week / 3 gigs.

I don't know if you remember my post back in August about planning to go to live music. Well, I somehow managed to organise going to 3 gigs all in the same week! In hindsight, it probably would've been nicer to spread them out a bit, but sometimes you just have to take the opportunity to have some musical fun!

On Monday, one of my best friends and her sister came up from Devon so that we could re-live our teenage years. We went to see Taking Back Sunday at Bristol o2 Academy. The support bands weren't our cup of tea, but we loved seeing TBS. It wasn't that busy which meant we could see (a rarity at most gigs, due to our heights!) and they played loads of old songs! My inner 16-year-old was so happy.

Midweek, I travelled up to London to give Ella her belated birthday experience - watching Ben Howard at Brixton Academy. She knew Ben from her uni days in Falmouth, but hasn't seen him live in ages, so I thought it'd be a nice treat! I didn't realise until we got there, but we actually had seated tickets, which was nice as I was really hungover.. he was INCREDIBLE live, worth every penny, and I would urge everyone to go and see him play.

Finally, on Friday Doug and I headed back to the o2 Academy in Bristol to watch Angus & Julia Stone. It was much busier - so much so that I only caught a few brief glimpses of the stage - and the music was sweet, but I wish they'd played more songs that I knew and not bothered to cover a song from Grease and a bit of a Cyndi Lauper song, because it was just a bit weird and rubbish.

Hey ho! You win some, you lose some. Going to all the gigs made me appreciate music more, and want to see more live music. I've already got two gigs lined up for next year!

So, right, who wants to start a band?!

  10. lets start an all girl punk band! I loved TBS when I was 16, I saw them in Cardiff a few years ago but Brand New will always be my fave from that era. You will need a log nap after all that gig activity x

  13. It's fantastic to hear about your successful live music outings after your August post! While enjoying your leisure time, consider home improvements too. If you're in need of pool liner replacement near me , explore local options to maintain and upgrade your outdoor relaxation space.

  14. Reuniting with cherished friends from Devon on a nostalgic Monday is a true joy. As we reminisce about our teenage adventures, I'm reminded of the transformative power of connections. Perhaps next time, we can explore the enriching practice of tantric yoga houston together, deepening our bond even further.
