I keep getting requests from people to blog about my tattoos... there's a bit of info about them in my FAQ, but I thought I'd write in more detail/show them. Excuse my highly attractive sports bra (it's one of the only things that shows my tattoos properly) and any blurry photos. Some of my tattoos are in places that are awkward to photograph.
First up, my shoulder cats. Up until a few months ago, these were quite rubbish outlines of cats that I drew yeeeears ago (you can see them a bit here) I was scared to get anything done to them, but I really didn't like them anymore. After coming up with my new Being Little logo, I thought it'd be cool to turn one into that (my Kimi cat) and the other one could have some pretty forget-me-not type flowers (my Phoebe cat).
Scott Owen at Mantra in Cheltenham - where Elliott works - did a great job at turning the rubbish outlines into cute and colourful kitties. He is really good at colour work, and he's also a bloody nice guy, which helps!
Yep, I have a tattoo of my blog. And what?
Yep, I have a tattoo of my blog. And what?
Next, a little tiny cupcake behind my ear. This is pretty self-explanatory really.. I like cake. A lot. I got this on a bit of a whim, when I got my toes tattooed. I quite often forget I have this one, as I can't see it!
My newest scribble. I like that it kind of just looks like I drew it on with a pen, it doesn't look like a "proper" tattoo. I think one of my aims in life is to end up looking like a doodle pad, so I like that. It's my Paris tattoo, because it was the best trip ever, and I think it probably stopped me from going a bit mad.
They symbolise the people I went with - the cat for Kelly, who was as obsessed with cats as I am; the moustache for Will, because he once had an amazing moustache, and we found many moustache things in Paris; the heart-shaped padlock for Ella, because we loved the padlock bridge and wanted matching tattoos. She hasn't got hers yet...
My lovely moon. I often say that I'd like more detail in my moon, but I also like how it's quite wishy-washy, like it's been done with watercolour or inks. My best friend and I have a thing about the moon, so this is to symbolise him and our friendship really. Plus, the moon is bloooooody amazing!
"Devon pride" written across my toes! This is the one I probably get asked about most, as it can be hard to make out! The letters are a little messy and the ones on my little toes are fading.. They speak for themselves, I'm proud of where I was brought up, it's bloody beautiful.
I hope I've fulfilled all your urges to know about my tattoos. I don't claim to have the best tattoos, and some of them are just silly little things, but they all mean something, which is more important to me than having "cool" tattoos.
They are all really nice but I especially like the Moon one! :) xo

ReplyDeleteYour tattoos are lovely. I really like your moon and devon pride ones.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get a tattoo but doubt i will ever be brave enough to, so i admire you for getting all of yours and its great that they all have a meaning to you too! :) x
I love them all, they're so expressive of you as a person and it's beautiful that you've used your body as a canvas for your memories! God I've just read that back and it sounds so cheesy, but it's true! makes me wanna 3rd..... ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise you had so many!
ReplyDeleteI have to say the moon is by far my favourite of yours.
The detail is simply amazing.
i like your moon and you cupcake :) and a high five for getting tattoos of things YOU actually want, instead of what you think other people would want. i've got 'blue skies' tattooed on the inside of my finger and it annoys me when people say 'why did you get that for?' i wana scream 'because it bloody well means something to me you berk'. :) x
ReplyDeleteI like the moon! Well done for getting tattoos that means something to you rather than fashionable ones.

I can't stop thinking about a tattoo that I've wanted to get for years lately! I'm just such a wimp though... not sure how I'd be able to deal with the pain! D:

Love your tattoos Lyzi. I have one myself and would like more but have quite difficult parents about it :( xo
ReplyDeleteI find it really fascinating reading about other people's tattoos, especially when they're quite unusual ones like yours. I love the inky style of your moon, but I also really like your doodle style ones. I also approve muchly of the Devon Pride as a fellow Devonian myself! I'm wanting to get a tattoo of seagulls myself to remind me of my roots by the sea. Also, because the sea makes me feel really calm, and as quite an anxious person, I think it will act as a good visual reminder of something relaxing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! They're all gorgeous! Especially your moon one! Its beautiful, love it! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou have awesome tattoos! They're all so original :) x
ReplyDeleteI loved blogging about mine. I've always wanted a moon but I have no idea where yet!
ReplyDeleteI find that cupcake tattoo behind your ear really cool. Haha! It looks simple but many would love to have a tattoo of their favorites. I observed that personally. My fiancé loves stars, so she decided to get a tattoo on her nape. Then, my cousin, who’s a music lover, had a G clef tattooed on her right ankle.
