the phlunk!

You may have heard of Lou Rhodes (@Lou_Rhodes) before, probably because of her awesome band, Lamb (@lambofficial) I remember this song being especially popular for a while - so so beautiful. But it turns out she's got her fingers in some other pies, including writing kids' books! 

This was brought to my attention because my very talented friend Tori Elliott is the illustrator of this new book released TODAY! It's called The Phlunk, and is about a cat-like creature from out of space, who is always listening to you, even if you feel like no one can hear you. Such a sweet little sentiment.

Lou contacted heads of Illustration at various unis, Tori submitted her work and was picked to be the illustrator! I can see why - Tori's mixture of collage and text, and all the little details bring this story to life. The double-page spreads throughout the book are so fun to look at, and every time I have a look through I notice something new!

I also love the fact that it's all been done in the south-west! Lou Rhodes is from Bath, Tori lives in Devon, and it was published in Somerset by Strata Books! It just goes to show south west really IS best...

The Phlunk is available from all major bookshops on request & order, and also on Amazon. OR for no extra cost you can get a copy signed by Tori through her website! I know which I'd choose ;)
