As you're probably totally aware by now, I love Instagram, and a lot of the photos that I take on my iPad end up on there. I like to make my photos prettier with all kinds of filters and things, but I'd never tried any lenses on the little camera, until now..
I was sent this Patuoxun kit to review, and despite the garbled instructions translated badly into English, it was extremely easy to sort the tiny lenses out so that they were ready to use. All you need to do is stick a little magnetic ring around the camera and you're good to go. You get quite a few of these rings, so I stuck one on my phone too (even though the camera is pretty awful..)
There are 3 options with these lenses - macro, fish-eye, and wide angle - although I didn't really see the point in the latter. I didn't notice much of a difference in my photos when I used it!
Below are some of my favourite photos that I've taken with these handy lenses. I think you can probably tell which is my favourite!
A couple of negatives are that the area around the camera on my iPad is slightly curved, meaning the lenses don't sit flush to it, and therefore it can be difficult to get a photo that is totally in focus, especially when using the fish-eye. It also means that much more of the lens comes into view, and it feels like it could fall off easily. I don't have this problem when I use it on my phone, as it's totally flat around my camera.
However, I'll definitely continue to use the lenses, because they give a new dimension to the snaps I take with my iPad. I don't mind some of the fish-eye photos being out of focus, because it reminds me a bit of the effect you can get on film cameras. They're really handy to pop in your bag & take out and about with you, and you can use them on numerous devices!
Have you ever used any lenses or other accessories to enhance your photos?
