Maybe it's because it's that time of year that I seem to be constantly ill. The post-Christmas slump - the hangover from eating too much of the wrong things, missing the shiny lights and smiling faces. Maybe it's just January - I usually struggle during these first months of the year, and it's been so cold.
December was a really busy month - the panic-buying of gifts, meeting friends for drinks, dinners, parties - I felt like I barely had time to myself. True to form, I got ill when I stopped for Christmas. Haven't felt quite right since.

Some mornings are ok - I'll get myself to the gym, do some chores or some work. Some mornings aren't. And by mid afternoon I'm completely done. I am defeated. I lie frustrated at my own body, wondering why I can't do so much lately. Sometimes I give in and nap. Sometimes I power through and tears sting my eyes when I know I have to get myself up to work, or to fulfil plans I've made. Headaches almost daily. Stomach in knots.
This morning I woke up tired, but I know I'll feel worse later regardless, so I'll get on. I feel better when I've achieved something.
How do you deal with the lack of motivation/energy in the winter?

I find vitamin D and B complex so beneficial during the winter months. Also a daylight/SAD lamp makes such a difference. X
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely coat on you! It's good you manage to get to the gym sometimes, that's an achievement in itself. I need to get motivated, I try to take vitamin supplements etc but the truth is, life is better for me in the sunshine! Not long to wait... Riiight? ;)

I honestly think it has so much to do with the weather, I need the sun in my life! December is always so crazy that we often forget about the crappy things as we're just too busy! Getting to the gym is a major achievement in itself haha. x

I find the darkness of winter so draining and I can;t motivate myself to do anything. Hopefully the lighter morning will help when they finally return!
