It sure was chilly this morning, wasn't it?! It's always tempting to stay in your cosy bed on mornings like those, but knowing that you have a delicious, warm breakfast to look forward to makes it a little easier to get up. Especially when they basically taste like a dessert.
Here are a few porridgey creations I've whipped up lately..
Alpro sent over some of their Oat Original Drink to try, along with some oats, toppings and a beautiful bowl from Anthropologie. The drink has a soft and natural taste, and is high in fibre and low in fat. It also contains vitamins B2, B12, and D, and lots of calcium.
All of the following porridge combinations started off the same way: 1/2 cup porridge oats, 1 cup Alpro Oat Original Drink, cooked in a saucepan over a medium heat.
Pink porridge is my breakfast everyday! I always have a stash of frozen raspberries, and I simply mix a handful into my porridge when it's almost cooked. It makes me happy every morning. This time I made it a little more special with the addition of dried cranberries, toasted mixed seeds and a drizzle of honey.
I've been craving apple crumble laced with cinnamon lately, but instead I decided to make it into a breakfast treat instead! I peeled and chopped 4 bramley apples and cooked on a low heat with a splash of water and a little honey, until soft. I've been keeping it in my fridge and spooning it into my hot porridge, finishing with a few dried cranberries and a sprinkling of cinnamon. You could even toast a few extra porridge to give it a more crumbly feeling!
A real feast! I cooked some of my frozen raspberries and added to my porridge, along with some peanut butter, dried cranberries, pecans and mixed seeds. There are so many different tastes and textures in this bowl!
What's your favourite porridge topping to warm you up on a cold winter morning?

Yum, these look great. I usually have porridge for breakfast too and go through phases of what to top it with (currently banana). You've definitely given me some inspiration for future options - raspberry is already on my regular rotation but cooked apple and cinnamon sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteSome super cute idea! I currently eat my porridge as boring as it comes, with hot water haha
