nespresso pop-up boutique launch.

A few weeks ago, I made my way to The Lido in Clifton with some other Bristol foodies to celebrate the launch of the new Nespresso pop-up Boutique.

The evening started with a Nespresso martini - which I’d somehow never tried before! - and some mingling, before sitting down to some Grand Cru coffee tasting & learning about the origins of the different beans and blends.

The three course dinner that followed was all inspired & infused with different coffee flavours. We started with salmon infused with Nespresso Bukeela ka Ethiopia - I was a little dubious with how that would work with salmon, but it was such a subtle hint and just gave a richness to the dish.

Next we had veal cheek, which was slow cooked with Nespresso Kazaar and then affogato for dessert, served with a shot of Nespresso Ristretto, which was incredible - I’d never tried one before, but it is definitely something I would like to try to recreate at home! The cool ice cream had a layer of sweet condensed milk below it, and when mixed with the hot espresso it was dreamy!

A few days later, I visited the new pop-up boutique up at Cribs Causeway to see what it was all about. It can be found at the Marks & Spencer end of the mall, and has a completely open front. You can see all the different Grands Crus beautifully laid out on display, and the staff are always on hand to assist you. They were incredibly welcoming and helpful with me, answering all my questions and being generally very friendly!

They also have some of their beautiful coffee machines on display, as well as other accessories. There’s a tasting station as well, if you’re not sure which Grand Cru coffee is for you, you can try a few so that you can find your perfect blend.

I was lucky enough to be sent the CitiZ machine, and have been thoroughly enjoying how easy it is to have a delicious coffee on hand. All you need to do is pop a capsule in and press the button, and there’s your coffee!

There’s nothing better than having a fresh coffee in bed on a lazy, sunny morning. Or taking some time out in the afternoon with a book, a fresh brew, and something sweet!

  1. That sounds absolutely amazing! I never would have thought of adding coffee into savory dishes before, but I might just have to look up some recipes and give it a try!
