designing the finer things club blog.

Just before Christmas, Bee contacted me about helping to design hers and Luke's new joint venture in the blogging world, The Finer Things Club

They needed a header, about section & buttons for the sidebar, and luckily for me, they were very specific about what they wanted, which made my job much easier! I had a lot of contact with Bee during the designing process too, so I could check that everything was turning out how they wanted it, and we could make any changes easily.

It started out with a few scribbles in my sketchbook, which I then scanned in and moved around on Photoshop. I sent the black and white image below to check that the placing was all ok, then set to work colouring it!

I decided to paint the icons with watercolours by hand & re-scan them, and they turned out pretty cute! I don't use paints enough, so this was a lovely little exercise for me.

I repositioned the icons on Photoshop, tidied them up a little bit, and it was finally complete! The about section was a straight forward bit of writing and scanning, and the buttons were all Photoshop work.

And now it's complete, and The Finer Things Club launched yesterday with their first post! You can see all my handiwork, and read a bit about the lovely faces behind the blog here. You can also find them on Twitter and Instagram!

I generally don't do many commissions for things like this, but if you're interested in having a chat about bits and bobs I could redesign for your blog or website, just drop me a little email at beinglittle@hotmail.co.uk :)

  1. I love the bit where you said that you had a lot of contact with me during the process as if we don't talk about Jim Halpert and food every day anyway!
