our last days.

So Doug is now around 6000 miles away from me, and I won't see him with eyes for about 5 or 6 months. It doesn't quite feel real yet, and I'm keeping busy so that I don't think about it too much. Before he left, we had a lovely few days together, and I wanted to share some of the photos.

A picnic, blossom, outside drinks, intimate gigs, a long drive and beautiful sun, cats, mumwin, kid drawings & stories, Totnes lunch & market, chocolate beetroot cake, sitting in the garden, a cosy evening, a ferry ride, breakfast at Alf's, Beesands picnic, paddle & rock climbing, sand in my pants, tea and brownie, gin in a tin in a park, cider bar, lazy last morning, lunch with the family, long teary goodbyes.

You can follow what Doug and the other boys get up to on their year-long adventure on their blog, four idiots abroad.

  1. Sorry you won't get to see him for a while :( but glad you had a few lovely days together to keep as memories.

BTW - the last photos, is that Start Point? That's my favorite beach! And you were in my home town, Totnes - yay! :) x

  7. My boyfriend is in the Royal Navy and I hardly ever see him. My advice? Keep busy, do what you love, shop loads, write letters and just remember all the reasons you love him. <3

Time away from loved ones is really hard, I struggled travelling for just a few weeks without my other half, but you'll get through fine. I'm looking forward to checking their blog and seeing what they get up too!x

  13. It's awful having to go without seeing someone for so long, I know that too well, but it looks like you had a lovely couple of days to celebrate his adventure before he left. The weather was so kind to you too! (: I'm sure he'll be back before you know it. xx

  23. Oh Lyzi, I can completely understand how tough this is for you. I was basically Doug a few years ago, and I'd just gotten with Little B so we were still in the 'honeymoon stages' if you like to call it.
I'm going to be honest, it's not easy, and there are many days when you get frustrated because all you want to do is see them, but believe me, the moment you do see them after all that time, is probably one of the best feelings and makes up for all the rubbish days you do have missing them.
Keep yourself busy, and surround yourself with friends, and think of it as a time to make the most of it with people that you care for.
Sending you a big hug pretending to be Doug xxxxxx
