breakfast at pinkmans.

Pinkmans Bakery usually catches my attention with their sour-dough-nuts - the roundest of all time, with different flavour combinations monthly. As soon as you walk in, you're met with a counter crammed full of the most delicious looking bakes.. my mouth is watering writing this.

We tried to go for breakfast a while back, but got there a little too late. This time around, we were there in good time, and it was SO worth getting up a little earlier for.

Towards the back of the establishment you'll find a big and bright seating area, with the kitchen behind. I think everyone likes to be able to see into the kitchen - you know that the food is being prepared properly, and it's just so interesting, especially in a place like this.

We chose to sit in the window at the front, well, because I needed the light, and it's always nice to watch the world go by.

Off the breakfast menu (served until 12pm on weekdays, and 2pm on weekends) we chose the shakshuka and the smashed sweet chilli avocado on toast. They both looked so appetising when they arrived - the shakshuka hot and bubbling over the side of the dish, and all the colours of the avocado toast. They smelled heavenly too.

Both dishes lived up to their appearance - so many flavours, and all of them good. There is only one bad point that I can think of, which is that I could've done with a sharper knife to cut through the sourdough crust! Other than that, it was all really tasty, and I raved about it so much afterwards that I had to take my friend there yesterday for a late brunch!

It's almost impossible to leave Pinkmans without something sweet, so we shared one of their infamous sour-dough-nuts. We had the honeycomb one - the sweet and creamy filling was encased perfectly by the sugary dough, and topped with a piece of homemade honeycomb. Drool worthy.

I saw on their Instagram that one of their new flavours is chocolate brownie, and their brownies are amazing, so I can imagine that combination is going to be ridiculously good.

You can find Pinkmans towards the top of Park Street, and it's so worth walking up the hill for.

  3. I'm so sad that Pinkmans only opened shortly before I moved away from Bristol! I made it for lunch once, but if I was still living there I know I'd have been going nearly every week - every photo I see of their food just looks better and and better!

  6. Arrrrgh my god, we went to Pinkmans for breakfast last month (it was the luckiest find, we were in Bristol for one night and we just stumbled upon it in the morning) and it was SO GOOD. I had the custard dipped brioche with blueberry compote and creme fraiche and I honestly do not think I will ever find a more perfect breakfast. I didn't see any of their donuts when we were there, maybe we got in there too early?? We had a pretty early start.. I think I'm going to have to just get the train up there this weekend and sit in all day and eat everything! xxx
