meat free mondays at pieminister.

So what better time to head down to Pieminister's brand new restaurant to try out some of their veggie pies - including their newest creation submitted by one of you lot out there. Too much newness, can you even handle it?

The new joint on Broad Quay - Bristol, obv - is so on brand. We walked in from a very bright day to a very black restaurant. Sat in the sunny window seat, we looked over the menu. I really like that they do topless pies (cheeky) and hot pots, topped with potato & no pastry at all (so all of you gluten free lot can still enjoy the tasty goodness).

It was a Meat Free Monday - which means 50p off all veg pies! I chose the Green Goddess, which is one of their open top pies with spinach, feta butternut squash & chickpea, with a creamy sauce and poppy seeds over the top. He chose the Saag Pie-Neer - the newest addition to their range - which is crammed full of peas, paneer, spinach, potato and mango, with lovely warm curry flavours.

Our friendly waitress told us that the gravy probably wouldn't really go with these pies, and recommended salsa or chutney instead, so we got one of each, as well as both of the slaws, and mash... because what is pie without mash?

The mash was smooth and creamy, the slaws crunchy and tasty, I don't even need to mention the pies again really, as they were perfect - as always.

Here's a list of their cafes & restaurants, and if there isn't one near you, never fear - you can buy their pies online & cook them in your very own oven.

  1. This looks so divine! A good veggie pie, and mash is my utter weakness but I'm yet to find a veggie pie I really love - may possibly have to buy some of theirs to be delivered as they sound fantastic!
