to the sea.

A couple of weekends ago, I popped down to Devon and actually got to have a beach day! I don't remember the last time I spent the day at the beach, and went for a swim. It was the perfect day to test out my new swimming cozzie, hat, and other bits and bobs.

My mum and I took my gorgeous 3-and-a-half year old niece to our favourite beach, and had the loveliest day. I'm going to do a more personal post about that tomorrow, but today's is going to focus on this rather glamorous holiday ensemble sent to me by Matalan.

I have always thought that Matalan doesn't get the credit it deserves - I've found so many nice things in there over the years, and yet I often forget about it when I'm searching for a new treat for myself! Everything that I'm wearing in this post is from their holiday shop

I have to admit, this blog post was quite difficult for me. I'm not in the best shape of my life, and seem to find it harder and harder to stay slim as I get older (especially with my love of chocolate and other naughty things..) and being short in stature means it really shows. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about posing in a swimming costume and then putting the photos up here for all to see..

However, I do like challenging my insecurities, so I just got on with it and tried not to over-think things. I think it helped that the beach was quiet, and I was with two people who love me no matter how big my bum gets! And, actually, I'm rather pleased with how the photos came out!

  1. Gorgeous! I swam in the sea in Newquay a few weeks ago - the first time I've been in British waters for years. It was glorious!

  3. such lovely photos, which beach in Devon were you at? I usually head up to the North coast by choice and go to Putsborough but I'm looking to explore some more beaches on the south coast as I spend a lot of time in Plymouth (I'm also a Devon girl born and bred!) Just discovered your blog through Cider with Rosie and it's glorious! :) Alice xx

  5. Love the swimming costume! :) I haven't actually been for a swim in the sea yet this year (SHOCK HORROR). I know, I'm so spoilt living 10 minutes from the beach and yet I don't even go in...
To be fair I've been kayaking once or twice...but my wetsuit no longer fits me and I'm not as brave as you to go in without it!

  6. You look lovely, and you are definitely right about Matalan - I have so many nice things from there but often overlook it in favour of other shops because ours is outside of town so just not as handy. May just need a trip there now to have a wee look... (: x

  14. loving that swimsuit! i'm short too (but i have huge boobs/hips), and wouldn't even have the confidence to wear a swimsuit, let alone have someone take photos of me wearing one, so i applaud you for having the bravery to do that! and for the record, you look absolutely fantastic :)
