january.

So at the beginning of the year, I said I was going to take time for myself to reflect back on each month. I thought I'd share some of the changes that have happened during January - both good & bad.

It has been a troubling month for me, so I'm very glad it's over. It's never a favourite month of mine - it seems to drag out forever and it's always SO cold! Because of the coldness factor, I decided to book a holiday in the sun for myself. Come March, I will be lying around doing nothing for 6 days - I'm excited and scared about going solo, but I'm sure it'll be good for me, and hopefully a very relaxing holiday.

Coming back to Bristol was difficult after Christmas, as I'd had such a lovely, quiet time. Time to gather my thoughts and listen to myself more. This resulted in me addressing my unhappiness, and having a few talks with Doug, ultimately leading to separate bedrooms & then a break up. It was incredibly tough deciding to take that step, but I'm trying to put my happiness first, so it had to be done. We're endeavouring to remain best friends, and we are still living under the same roof, so all is not lost.

A much happier and very exciting thing that happened just over a week ago, is that niece number 2 was born! You may have seen this photo of us having a lovely snuggle. I went down to meet Pippa just after the break up, and her and Evelyn were just the best people to cheer me up. How do little people just know? It won't be long before Pippa is up and running around and chatting away like her big sister, so I'm going to try to get down for lots of quiet cuddles while I still can!

Other than those things, life has been working, eating & drinking too much, and being totally absorbed by my feelings, so I hope you can excuse me for being a little absent from the online world. However, I did manage to blog about a few things, and here are my 3 favourites:

  1. I think it's awesome when you do this 'time to reflect' posts. I'm also an advocate of being in constant reevaluation of my life, just helps keeping ourselves in the right track doesn't it? It's fab that you booked a getaway for yourself in March, that sounds like an adventure and you've got to make the best of it girl!

  2. I wish I knew the answer to that question.. How do little people know? How, do they know indeed. I think it's good to take time for yourself and concern yourself with what you want and how you feel. I think I need to do more of that really.

The getaway sounds delightful, especially during this frightfully cold season!

  3. Well done you for making the decision to follow your own happiness. I really hope everything works out for you. There is nothing as healing as time alone, cuddles with teeny babies and pets to cheer you up. Just keep thinking about that holiday! Lisa x

  4. Thanks for being honest. I'm going through some difficult stuff right now and in a way it's comforting to know I'm not the only one. Well done for making a what must have been a horribly difficult decision.

  5. Sorry to hear about January being not so great, but it's good that you are being honest with yourself - it will definitely be the best in the long run! And yay for going to the sun in March - I wouldn't worry about going solo, means you can spend loads of time to yourself, and if you feel like it, there will be plenty of people there to meet!

  13. I'm sorry your January wasn't too fun. I think it's such an odd month, but if sounds all on-wards and upwards with a holiday on the horizon :)
My January wasn't the best, but February will hopefully be the month I manage to put some TLC into my blog and start thinking more positively.
I think your blog is so lovely and I the real-ness of it really sets it apart.
