frame your train competition!

fgw frame your train

I travel by train quite often, and if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I often take photos of my journey! I'm very lucky that my trip back to where my family lives involves a stretch of railway that runs right alongside the sea, as you can see above! But I'm not here to boast, I'm here to let you all in on a little competition..

First Great Western have just launched their Frame Your Train competition, which aims to capture beautiful British scenery. They want you to show them hidden gems, or places you've travelled to this summer.

And hey guess what?! I'll be a judge for one of the weeks, picking out my favourite image!

All you have to do is:

• take a photo of the view from your carriage window
• upload the photo to Instagram & use the hashtag #FGWframeyourtrain & the location of your entry

Easy as pie! You'll be able to see all the entries on the FGW gallery or by searching the hashtag, and each week a lucky winner will receive 2 standard class return tickets! Pretty good I'd say, especially if you're planning a little trip to see loved ones or to the seaside - or both!

The competition is running now until the 25th August, so get Instagramming!

Good luck!

  1. Does the train photo have to be taken on a First Great Western train? I live in Scotland so my picture was taken on a First Scotrail. x

  2. Oooh, very cool contest! That's incredible that you get that view for a while on your train rides. I can't be too jealous, though, because I get the same view for a few miles on one of the highways we go on if we drive out a certain direction! It's beautiful, I don't know if I'd ever be able to trade being surrounded by water. ♥

  3. Sounds like a fantastic competition. Such a clever idea. I don't take the train often but when I do I make the most of the scenery.

  4. Is this down through Dawlish and Teignmouth etc? I love that journey! I'll be sure to take a picture if I'm heading down that way before the deadline, although I'm sure your picture is better than any I could take!
