english rose.

You've probably seen this dress a few times on Instagram, but today I thought I'd show you it properly, in all its glory! As well as share a recipe for some co-ordinating cakes.

ENGLISH ROSE CUPCAKES.

• 225g softened butter
• 225g caster sugar
• 3tbsp rose water
• 2tsp vanilla extract
• 4 eggs, beaten
• 225g self raising flour
• 1tsp baking powder
• pinch of salt

• Firstly, preheat the oven to 160ºC and line your cupcake tin with cases.

• I sifted my caster sugar because it was super lumpy, but you can just bash any lumps out with a spoon.

• Cube the soft butter, and cream it together with the sugar until light and fluffy.

• Mix in the rose water and vanilla extract.

• Gradually add the beaten egg.

• Add the sifted flour, baking powder & salt, and fold in gently until just combined.

• Divide between cake cases & bake until golden brown on top and a skewer comes out clean - about 15 minutes.

• Leave to cool on a wire rack before dusting with icing sugar & consuming!

Recipe adapted from this yummy sounding Jamie Oliver one.

While they cooled, I brewed up some tea in this beautiful teacup that Granny gave me on my 21st birthday. It's amazing to think that I own something with such history.

It feels even more special to have things like this after everything that's happened.

So last, but not least, the dress! I've often admired the dresses on the Lindy Bop website, and thought they were extremely reasonably priced! I nearly bought one for my cousin's vintage wedding last year, but decided to go authentic vintage instead.

This dress is absolutely beautiful. It looks vintage, but feels brand new.. because it is! However it still gives you that feeling of when you find a vintage dress that fits perfectly - it feels like it was made for me! Especially in this petite size.

It's made from a beautiful, heavy, floral fabric, and is lined with a stretchy, soft, bright red. The matching belt is adorable, and finishes it off nicely.

I just had to wear it with vintage shoes, and these glittery pointed heels were the perfect pair.
