dixi gypsy nights preview & discount!

a birthday in bath.

As I mentioned the other day, it was Doug's birthday a couple of weeks ago. We started the day with some pancakes, tea and presents, and then hopped on the train to bath. It's only a 30 minute journey from my local station, so it seems silly that we go there so rarely!

spicy cajun chicken.

If you're struggling to think of what to cook for dinner this weekend, how about this stupidly yummy and healthy cajun chicken and salad? Read on for the recipe..

a day out with my kipling bag from bagable.

Last Thursday, Doug and I donned our backpacks and went off on a day trip to Bath for his birthday. I'll share a few more photos from the day later in the week, but for now I just wanted to show you my new backpack.

topshop infrared lipstick.

My favourite lipstick for the past few years is my beloved Collection 2000 Orange Punch which doesn't seem to be made anymore (why does that always happen?!) so I thought it was about time I found a replacement. Whilst in Topshop last week, I browsed the make-up counter and came across this similar orange-red lippy, and decided I had to buy it.

are you bold with colour?

Every year when the weather turns a little colder, I find myself reaching for the blacks and greys in my wardrobe. But why? Surely as the weather gets more drab, I should want to wear brighter clothing to cheer myself up.. I sometimes think bright colours can look a little childish too, so if I ever have to do something serious, out come the boring colours. Read on for a few little facts about wearing colour..

white stuff at john lewis wishlist.

• 1. origami bird print scarf  • 2. coatigan • 3. harbour lights jumper • 4. apple blossom jumper • 5. westbourne stripe shirt • 6. brecon tunic •

Growing up by the seaside in Devon, there was always a White Stuff shop nearby. I had a few bits and bobs from there, but in recent years I haven't really thought about looking at their stuff. I had this misconception that it was all a bit "surfy" or "hippy mumsy". However, browsing through the White Stuff AW13 collection on the John Lewis site, I found loads of classic, comfy looking pieces that would easily slip into my wardrobe.

Doug often makes tiny little origami birds for me, so this scarf and its soft colours caught my eye first. This in-between-seasons stage calls for a coatigan (something I've never even tried on, but I have a feeling I'd really like it!) and perhaps a classic striped jummper to layer up in the evening. The bottom row is full of collared lovelies that could work well as autumn workwear, the peplum jumper being my absolute favourite.

how to wear autumn with voucher codes.

I haven't been shopping for clothes in what seems like forever, so when Voucher Codes challenged me to find 3 ways to wear one of the AW13 trends for under £80, I couldn't say no! I wanted to show three outfit ideas for different occasions, to show how versatile this trend can be.

speedy lunch - poached eggs & spicy kale.

This lunch was made out of food that I had left over. I wanted to eat it all, but wasn't entirely sure how to make it work, so I googled it and a yummy recipe came up.

apples and swallows.

Probably the last remotely summery outfit this year, seeing as it's turned rather cold lately! These cute little outfits will now only be worn with nude tights & giant cardigans, or not at all. Booooo!

a vintage wedding in cornwall.

Last weekend, a whole bunch of family & friends got together in Cornwall to celebrate the marriage of my beautiful cousin Ruth and her equally gorgeous lady, Lisa.

bristol days with doug.

LOOK WHO IT IS! Doug is hooooooooooooome! I won't ramble on too much, but here are a bunch of photos of what we got up to the first couple days he was back in Bristol with me. Mostly wandering around and eating.

We went to: The Lounge, The Birdcage, Cabot Tower & the surrounding park.

truffle shuffle // fantastic mr fox.

When I got a lovely email from TruffleShuffle asking if I'd like to review something from their Roald Dahl collection, I couldn't reply quick enough! I've always loved Roald Dahl stories - with their horrible bits and wondrous words - and fell even more in love with Fantastic Mr Fox when Wes Anderson created the animation, so it was easy peasy to choose my vest!

neäl & wolf: harmony, silk and glow.

I've used the Neäl & Wolf glow spray before, after receiving it in a goody bag a year or two ago, and was really impressed by the scent and the performance, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to try two of their other products.
