bristol harbour festival 2013

I realised recently, that this is my first summer living in Bristol. When I lived here before, I was at uni, so I'd go home for the summer. If you're not familiar with my lovely city, then you won't know how many amazing things go on in the summer, from open air theatre to fun festivals. It's crazy, there's always something interesting happening! Last weekend, I experienced Harbour Festival for the first time..

I had my friends Sophy and Ash staying with me, and on Friday we wandered into the city centre, stopping off at the M Shed for a photography exhibition. We stood on the balcony there, and watched all the busy people setting up the festival. We looked at a few stalls along the cobbled streets and sat in Queen's Square for a while, staring up at the trees and nodding off a little.

Ash had to go home, and Sophy and I decided we'd go out for dinner. We slicked a little lipstick on and went over to Turtle Bay for 2 for 1 cocktails and some yummy jerk chicken! They also did these amazing fried/roasted chickpeas that I really need to find out how to make.. afterwards, we wandered around a little, killing time before DJ Derek, but we decided we were too tired from the night before's shenanigans, so we just trotted home for an early night!

On Saturday morning, my lovely Charli came up for the day. We mostly wandered around the stalls eating everything in sight. We had a little sit down for a while and got to chat to a couple of interesting people. One of which asked to take photos of Sophy's tattoos for his blog. He was an extremely interesting man, and even showed us his body covered in ink! If you want to check him out, he blogs about his and other people's tattoos & the stories behind them over at The Tattooed Toff

I bought a pint o' Pimms and we went back over to Queen's Square, where we sat for a little while before the heavens opened... and the rain didn't stop again for a very long time. We decided to make our way back to my house, Charli and Sophy went home, and I curled up on the sofa for the rest of the night.

It was a shame I didn't get to experience Saturday night at the festival, but I just couldn't face the rain! Oh well, there's always next year... :)
