seeing spots.

During my teenage years, I was really flat chested. I could barely fill an AA cup and it got me down. I'd stuff my bras but I'd still get teased. WELL LOOK AT ME NOW. I have boobs. So there.

A while ago, I was contacted asking if I'd like to go for a fitting with Bravissimo. Unfortunately, none of their stores were anywhere near me, so instead they offered me a phone fitting.

I was a little dubious of how they could fit a bra for me over the phone. They informed me that the linear measurements can be inaccurate, and they usually fit by eye, without tape measures! They asked me about the fit of the bra I was wearing, how old it was and how I washed my bras. They recommend that you handwash, as over time, in hot water, the elastine can break down and the under wire can come out.

Turned out the bra I was wearing was way too big around my body (I was wearing a 34 and should've been wearing a 30!) but the cup size was right. When you go down in the back measurements, you go UP in cup size. So they told me I'd be a 30E! (although this will probably vary for different brands) Now for someone who went through their teenage years having no boobs whatsoever, this took a little getting used to!

I tried a couple of styles and sizes before I got the right fit. It took quite a whle, but the staff on the other end of the phone were always really friendly and helpful. I ended up with this ridiculously cute retro set, and I love it!

  3. Oh I'm so jealous haha, I'm sick of my 32b's, especially surrounded by a family of big-boobed women!
That set is SO cute as well ♥

  4. Whenever I read about bra fitting it always makes me think I should really get measured myself. I´m positive I´m wearing a wrong size (34B). Will have to get this sorted!
Oh and the set is sooo cute x

  6. a phone fitting? i've always loved bravissimo but that's pretty amazing even for them! my back size is usually 28/30 so getting decent fitting bras was a bit of nightmare until i went there. i like the idea that it's a shop entirely devoted to lingerie so the staff know what they're talking out compared to the usual undertrained staff in most department stores who used to try and talk me into a 32 bra just so they'd get more money in the till! anyway the set you've chosen is lovely -x-

  8. I've never considered Bravissimo before but when I last got fitted (in Debenhams) I found out I'd gone from a 34B to a 38E and that set is so cute I'm thinking I'm going to have to try them out.

  9. That is the prettiest set of underwear ever! However the staff in my Bravissimo always look at me whenever I go in with my friend as if to say "Why are you here?!" haha! xxx

  10. I was wearing a 34 B and had a fitting at Lasenza and turned out I was a 32 DD! Thing is like you said stores vary, I can fit a 32 C in new look but they still don't feel as nice as my lasenza bra, you can tell it's really well made. I was a slow developer and didn't feel womanly because I had barely any boobs but now it's such a confidence boost so I can see where you're coming from. It's a good slap in the face to anyone who insulted you previously. Your bra is lovely btw, such a sweet pattern.

  11. SO adorable!
I work at La Senza so I do bra fits all the time! It's funny when ladies walk in thinking they're a large back size but small cup size, and then they realise they're entirely a different size.
By "eye", I'd say at La Senza, you're a 32DD/E - we come up smaller than most other brands. But it would depend on the style! Bravissimo were right when they said experience is more accurate than the tape measure sometimes!

  14. Such a pretty set! I've heard really good things about Bravissimo, and this post reminds me to get myself measured again..
I had no idea they did phone fittings, that's so handy if you don't live near one of their shops!
I bet you're happy with your new size!

  18. I also go by M&S sizes for bras. recently just went up from a 32C to a 32D because I have been doing arm exercises. La Senza always try to fit me into a 30D and I actually can't breathe when i wear their bras. Even a 32D is really small so I think their sizes are much smaller than everywhere else. Never ordered from Bravissimo either so might check it out, I always thought it was a shop for bigger sizes!

  19. This is such a cute set, I have a back size 30 and I hate bra shopping, they all seem so expensive just for been a bit of an odd size! xx

  20. CUTE set! So weird that they can fit you over the phone! I'm a 36D but haven't been measured in quite a while. I don't know how good the Victoria Secret ladies are at measuring! Good think you did though, it must feel so much better to be wearing the right size!

  21. Oh they look lovely :) I can totally empathize with being petite as La Senza (not exactly the most trusted of bra fitters) measured me as being a 30DD. I'd never heard of such a specific bra size, but since I'm only 5'2" with a small waist and big-ish tits, then apparently this size can exist! I too had been wearing a 34C, being happy as larry because I thought that it fit me... oh dear. Must see about buying a few things on Bravissimo myself. D'ya think you'll shop from them again? xxx

  23. Gorgeous underwear! I was the same, wore a 34 back for years and always wondered why it would ride up my back. So many people wear a too big back size and never realise!

  28. Where's the photo of you in the set? *cries* Yeah, I'll leave now....

  29. I can't believe they can do it over the phone and get it perfect! I recently went and got fitted for the first time and found out my old bras were massive on the band size in comparison to what I really was! Problem is every shop is different and I really can't be bothered to go around and get measured in each one haha (: x

  30. That is super pretty! I had a very similar experience to you - I was wearing a 34B and told I was a 30E too! I think I maybe have to have a nose around on the Bravissimo site

  31. I love this set too, I'm a bra fitter at Bravissimo so I know all about it! Our team on the phones giving the fitting advice are fab, it's all on the website too. I love fitting people, i love when they find out how wrong the bras they've been wearing and are so pleased with their new bras! Hope you enjoy your new set and will want to get more in the future, I'd definitely recommend popping into the shop if you ever find yourself near one! Xx

  32. I was exactly the same, wearing 34 instead of 30! I love Bravissimo, you can really tell the difference when you are wearing the right size :) x

  33. It's really beautiful! I had to go shopping for new underwear today as my boobs were falling out! Am a D cup now, never thought I'd have boobs in my entire life!! Xxx

  34. Ahh same with me!
I really struggle to find nice vintage clothes that fit up there, they never do up past my waist. Do you find that too?

  35. It's lovely that you're helping girls build their confidence - giving them reassurance that they just have to wait a little longer to grow into their skin. I think it's so important - gorgeous bra by the way!
